We are delighted that our adjudicator for the 2020 Tilehurst Eisteddfod will be Karen Collings.
Karen trained at London College of Dance and Drama, and on graduating taught and choreographed at home and abroad both professionally and for cruises. She then settled down and spent 16 years building a successful school in Devon, teaching the ISTD, RAD, IDTA and UKA syllabi in 8 dance genres.
Karen is a senior examiner for the Classical Greek Dance Faculty of the ISTD and a former committee member. She studied Greek dance as a child, and still really values it as an important part of today’s classical dance training. She has helped to produce examination syllabi and DVD’s for the Classical Greek Faculty’s examinations and training.
Karen also examines for the Modern Theatre and Tap Faculties of the ISTD, and has taught and examined this extensively abroad.
Working in both state and private education, she has taught and examined GCSE, A level and Btec Dance,Music and Performing Arts. She teaches at Totnes School of Dance and also works as head of the teachers training course at the school’s ISTD approved dance centre in Devon.
Many of Karen’s pupils have gone to full time training and to work and perform professionally in ballet companies, the west end, musical theatre tours and cruises and others are teaching in the UK and abroad.
As well as her teaching and examining commitments Karen has been personally involved in all festival disciplines, as a performer teacher and organiser, and she is vice chairman of Torbay and South West of England Festival.
A registered teacher for both the ISTD and RAD, Karen is an adjudicator for the British and International Federation of Festivals and on the panel of the All England Dance Competition.

We are delighted that our adjudicator for the 2019 Tilehurst
Eisteddfod will be Jill Baldock. Jill is an adjudicator for both The
British and International Federation of Festivals and All England
Dance. Trained at the Hylton Bromley School in Merseyside
and the Royal Academy of Dance in London. She entered The
Sunshine Competitions (pre-All England) and gained seven gold
medals in the London finals.
Jill received a scholarship to attend ‘The Place’ (London’s Contemporary School of
Dance) and went on to teach contemporary dance for both Derby and Surrey Arts
Councils. She has also taught for The Italia Conti School and eventually went on to
own her own theatre school.
Her first professional dancing job was with the famous ‘Top of The Pops’ dance group
‘The Go-Jos’, working in TV, Film, Cabaret and West End. Shows include ‘Kiss Me Kate’,
‘Carousel’, ‘Oklahoma’ etc. Jill went on to become an International choreographer,
director and producer of theatre, cabaret and cruise shows.
She diverted her career into the music business, producing for both EMI and Virgin:
recording such artistes as Shirley Bassey, Ruthie Henshall, Bonnie Langford, Marti
Webb, Toyah Wilcox etc. During that time she also ran her own music publishing
